Musical Landscapes from Iran

Brussels, Belgium

Rastak means “a little twig”. The name is a perfect fit for this Iranian band, a new twig sprung from the huge, age-old tree of Iran’s musical heritage. Rastak was founded in 1997 with a mission to document Iran’s rich tradition of folk music, record it, and breathe new life into it in contemporary interpretations.

a mission its members are successfully accomplishing. Rastak’s tours in recent years have included Australia, Europe, and Canada. This is the band’s first time as a guest of BOZAR, offering a Brussels audience an enjoyable immersion in Persian culture.
Negar Ezazi is a percussionist (Daf & percussion) for this group.
